Pico Rivera is located about 11 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles and is also on the southern edge of the San Gabriel Valley. The name of the city was formed through merging two historic communities together: Pico and Rivera. More than 120 acres of the city are devoted to recreational uses, including just under 100 acres of local parks. The city has an approximate population of 63,500 people, with the median sales price for a home being $438,700.
Pico Rivera is bordered by Montebello (NW), Industry and Whittier (E), West Whittier (SE), Santa Fe Springs (S), Downey (SW), and Commerce (W). Elementary and high school students in the community are served by the El Rancho Unified School District and Montebello Unified School District.
